One Ocean Learn is a joint undertaking between the One Ocean Hub, a UKRI programme based at the University of Strathclyde, UK, and the Green Development and Climate Change Programme Unit (GCP) of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research. The first phase of the platform runs from 2022-2024.
The One Ocean Hub is an international programme of research for sustainable development, working to promote fair and inclusive decision-making for a healthy ocean whereby people and the planet can flourish. The One Ocean Hub is led by the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, UK), and it has 18 partner organisations and 21 research partners across the world. Our 126 researchers specifically address challenges and opportunities in South Africa, Namibia, Ghana, Fiji and Solomon Islands, through collaborative and transdisciplinary research. The Hub is funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) through the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) – a key component in delivering the UK AID strategy that puts UK-led research at the heart of efforts to tackle the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The Green Development and Climate Change Programme Unit (GCP) of UNITAR develops methodologies, executes training, supports learning strategies, and facilitates
knowledge-sharing with the goal to strengthen capacities in developing countries to implement
the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and to advance a
