This presentation draws attention to how trade and market-related measures complement existing regulatory approaches to combat the trade of illegal fish and fisheries products. Mitchell proposes a complementary approach of well-enforced port state measures, catch documentation scheme, and the implementation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora in conjunction with robust disciplines of fisheries subsidies from the World Trade Organization can help address IUU fishing.
